  Performs data entry and patient registration in accordance with state and federal regulations. Responsible for resolving third party denials and responding to large customer inquiries while working under direct supervision. Follows normal work procedures and performs tasks in accordance with the Company's operating principles and procedures. Responsible for using pharmacy systems to retrieve patient and medication information. Duties may vary by department.

Responsibilities:

•  Using Walgreens Prescription Data Entry procedures and guidelines,  new patient registrations are processed by entering information into the appropriate system.
• Processes patient prescription requests in accordance with HIPAA guidelines and enters refill orders for processing.
• Resolves missing prescribing information and interprets medical abbreviations (SIG codes).
• Resolves all exceptions related to data entry. Handles patient correspondence (incoming calls, chats, emails) and makes outgoing calls to physicians and patients as needed. 
• Resolves third party rejections by reviewing, gathering information, making corrections and returning for processing according to individual plan requirements.
• Calls insurers and others to obtain information, obtain cancellation authorization or otherwise resolve third-party denials.
• Assists pharmacists both  in the institution and elsewhere. Identifies problems and communicates them to senior  staff when necessary.
• You must obtain an active technician license or certification within the first 90 days and maintain an active technician license or certification.

 Undergraduate degrees

•  High school diploma or GED.  Basic computer skills (for example: turn a computer on and off, use a mouse to point and click, start and close programs, change programs, save files, print documents and/or access information online).
• Basic search skills, including opening a browser, entering URLs in the right place, using a search engine, bookmarking a site, navigating the back/forward/pause buttons and filling out forms online. 
• Intermediate  keyboarding skills (minimum 25 WPM, touch typing, document formatting). Communicates effectively in writing and verbally.  18 years  or older

 Preferred Qualifications

•  At least 1 year of work experience as a pharmacy technician  in a retail store or call center.
• A minimum of 18 months as a Pharmacy Technician with state specific certification/registration with a  State Board of Pharmacy or nationally recognized certifying agency.
• Customer service experience for internal and external customers, including meeting service quality standards  and evaluating customer satisfaction. 
• Intermediate to advanced  keyboarding skills (minimum 35 WPM, touch typing, document formatting). Fluency in Spanish and English.
