 The Data Engineer is responsible for developing data pipelines and/or data testing for Costco's enterprise-certified datasets used for business critical data  use cases (eg, reporting, data science/machine learning, data APIs, etc.). Costco's mission is to use meaningful data to provide better products and services to its members. This role focuses on information technology to build and deliver automated data pipelines that  deliver secure data for all trials. The Data Engineer works with Product Owners, Data Architects and Data Platform teams to design, build, test and automate data pipelines that are trusted by the entire enterprise as a single source of truth.

ROLE

•   Develops and maintains data pipelines to bring data into  various test environments used to develop certified data sets.
•   Designs data pipelines with data architects, data managers and data quality engineers and recommends continuous optimization of data storage, data collection, data quality and orchestration.
•   Knowledge of methods and tools to hide personally identifiable information and other sensitive information.
•  Designs, develops and implements ETL/ELT/CDC processes using Informatica Intelligent Cloud Services (IICS), Azure Data Factory, AWS Glue and other ETL products. 
•  Uses Azure services such as Azure SQL DW (Synapse), ADLS, Azure Event Hub, Cosmos, Databricks, Delta-Lake to improve and accelerate the delivery of our data products and services.  ● Implements Big Data and NoSQL solutions, developing scalable computing platforms that bring valuable information to the organization.
•   Identifies, plans and implements internal process improvements: automation of manual processes, optimization of test  delivery. 
•  dentifies opportunities to improve data reliability, efficiency and quality of data management.
•   Communicate technical concepts to a non-technical audience, both in writing and orally.
•  Performs peer review of the work of other data designers.

REQUIRED

•  5 years of experience in designing and implementing data pipelines with large and complex data sets.
•  2 years of hands-on experience with Informatica IICS, Azure Data Factory, AWS Glue or other ETL tools.
•  Three years of experience working with cloud technologies such as ADLS, Azure Databricks, Spark, Azure Synapse, Cosmos DB and other big data technologies.
•  Extensive experience working with various data sources (DB2, SQL, Oracle, flat files (csv, limited), API, XML, JSON).
•  Experience in implementing data integration technologies such as event/message based integration (Kafka, Azure Event Hub), ETL.  
• Advanced SQL skills; good understanding of relational databases and enterprise data; ability to write complex SQL queries against multiple data sources.
•   5 years experience in Data Pipeline, ETL and Data Warehousing.
•   Knowledge of database storage concepts (data lake, relational databases, NoSQL, Graph, data warehouse).
•  Experience using Git/Azure DevOps.
•   You can work in a fast-paced, agile development environment.
