Facebook is looking for a forward-thinking Network Operations Engineer with advanced technical skills in Network, Systems and Tools/Automation to join the Network Operations team to increase the operational efficiency and reliability of one of the world's most dynamic and fastest growing networks. Network Operations Engineer Responsibilities

• Become a key subject matter expert to run Facebook production networks in large scale and heterogeneous environments.
• Articulate precise metrics and definitions of success to drive quality, efficiency, cost, and timeliness, and evolve them over time to reflect changing infrastructure and business needs.
• Develop operational process improvement plans and turn improvements into scalable and automated workflows by writing and reviewing code to improve operational efficiency.
• Dive deep into complex technical network issues ranging from automated tools to hardware failures and network issues.
• Anticipate potential operational risks and develop mitigation/minimization strategies.
• Engage and escalate emergency escalation and response with detailed autopsies while systematically addressing issues to prevent future incidents.
• Build cross-functional relationships with Network Engineering, Systems Engineering, Traffic, Logistics, Program Management and OEM partners to ensure operational excellence and manage performance of external vendors.
• Participate in call rotations with global operations teams.
• 15% travel (domestic and international).

minimum qualification

• Experience network operations while maintaining a large network infrastructure.
• Mastery of at least one network domain: IP network, optical network, or CDN/Edge network, including topology, protocol, hardware, and architecture.
• Gain experience working in global teams and collaborating with cross-functional teams in fast-paced and dynamic environments with limited supervision.
• Experience implementing/maintaining production network monitoring, alerting, and repair systems in a DevOps environment.
• Experience in identifying key metrics/measurements used to assess success and validate the business impact of initiatives.

Preferred qualification

• Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related technical discipline or equivalent experience.
• Experience in diverse infrastructure environments such as colocation facilities, cable landing stations, ILAs or proprietary data centers.
• Expert knowledge of TCP/IP and IPv6.
• Experience providing technical guidance to external vendors.
