  About the role

 Uber's network security team  works to reduce  risks from insecure settings, devices and processes at Uber and its affiliates across multiple environments and devices. Our team is on the front line, causing  thousands of risks to be blocked, working with our partner teams to ensure overall business success.

 what will you do:

•  Collaborate with our enterprise, platform production and affiliate network engineering teams to improve overall configuration security
•  Review ACL and firewall changes and provide insight to improve macrozone filtering and monitoring
•  Work with our threat detection team to improve visibility across the enterprise
•  Own SASE facilities and connectivity to on-site data centers
•  Work with our SWE team to build automations and services that provide better visibility and compliance to our team's requirements
•  Architect Network security architecture
•  Embed or consult projects from partner teams

 Undergraduate degrees

•  5 years of experience in planning and architecting large-scale, scalable and flexible network security
•  5 years of engineering experience with Arista, Cisco and/or Juniper Networking
•  3 years of professional software development  Python3 and/or GoLang experience automating common tasks
•  3 years of experience in SD-WAN design, implementation and management
•  Experience working with hybrid cloud environments
•  Experience working with regulatory requirements related to network incident security response methods, techniques, and artifact collection and preservation 
•  Deep understanding of Zero Trust Architecture, NIST 800-83 and NIST 800-207
•  Optical and traditional encrypted tunneling systems and protocols (e.g. IPSEC, Wireguard, OpenVPN, Layer
•  SSL) and MacSec
•  Functional understanding of regex
•  Work on hazard modeling and hazard zone distribution
•  Working understanding of  PCI, GDPR, NYDFS and CCPA
•  Strong interpersonal skills to multitask and lead cross-organizational project teams

 Preferred Qualifications

•  Experience with Zeek, Suricata and other network security monitoring platforms 
•  Experience with Secure Access Service Edge (SASE) platforms  (ie: iBoss, ZScaler)
•  Experience/understanding of OpenConfig 
•  Experience working with Batfish open source network analyzer
•  Functional understanding of eBPF and XDP with module development experience and understanding of eBPF CNIs such as Cilium
•  Network Access Control (NAC) and 802.1X PEAP experience
