key competencies

•  Expert level experience in Java or similar object oriented languages. 
• 5 years of experience in designing, implementing and supporting highly scalable backend applications. 
• 5 years of experience with Oracle SQL or other relational databases and data modeling and NoSQL and Big Data technologies such as Cassandra, Solr, Kafka and Hadoop.
• Deep understanding of HTTP and REST APIs.
•  Ability to design and create coding templates/standards for multiple code repositories. 
• Proven experience in rebuilding a large codebase while migrating to new technologies/frameworks. 
• Experience with container instrumentation frameworks such as Kubernetes is a plus.
• Experience with Rust is a plus
•  Demonstrated understanding of multithreaded programming concepts. 

Description

 The Apple Media Import design team is looking for a hardworking Senior Software Engineer to develop and build features for our Apple Media teams. As a hands-on engineer, in this role you will be responsible for building new features, implementing new services and updating existing ones, designing new data models and user workflows that support Apple Music content. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of building powerful and well-testable server-side applications. Knowledge of best practices and patterns for large Java web applications  is essential. The candidate must be familiar with code reviews, working in shared repos and continuous development/development across multiple environments and regular release cycles. This role requires collaboration with cross-functional teams, including operations, quality control and project management, to build applications and services that meet Apple's high standards of performance, quality and privacy.
