 The Web Search Platform is a  critical team that helps grow our revenue  by providing our customers with search capabilities on our platform. We are looking for engineers to help us implement best practices in the Lucene-based search backends supported by ElasticSearch. Extensive experience is not required to work with ElasticSearch, as long as you are a quick learner and can demonstrate a strong foundation in  software engineering, site reliability or infrastructure.

  What you do:

•  Collaborate with corporate stakeholders such as Storefront, MarTech, Global Supplier Tech, Pricing Tech and partner infrastructure and platforms teams to understand their business and co-develop effective solutions that create core business value.  Build, design and implement sustainable and scalable APIs and infrastructure automation.
• Participate in CI/CD development and implementation  on top of the Google Cloud Platform (GCP) web search platform. Improve and maintain the software and infrastructure  your team develops and uses.
• Provide guidance and collaborate with various engineering teams to simplify and improve the deployment of ElasticSearch  running on Wayfair's Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
•  Develop and track OKRs for key product initiatives and ensure alignment with stakeholder goals. Use agile processes to collaborate with partner teams to deliver on the agenda.

What you need

•  5 years of experience in server-side software engineering  (Java, Go or Python, etc.).
• 5 years of experience in infrastructure roles with strong Linux fundamentals.
• 5 years of experience in TCP/IP, load, security and  production environments. 
• 5 years of experience with search platforms such as ElasticSearch. 
• 5 years of experience in ElasticSearch setup and schema optimization.
• Participation in any on-premises cloud migration or  container deployment strategy. 
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.  Positive, friendly and cooperative attitude.
•   A mindset that pushes through problems with creative solutions and tenacity while maintaining a sweet demeanor under pressure.

 Preferred Qualifications

•  Qualification, knowledge and experience in the implementation and use of cloud-based technology in large organizations (AWS, Azure or GCP, preferably GCP experience)
•  Bachelor's degree in engineering and/or training or experience in a technical role (information technology/electrical/engineering, etc.)
